Donald Trump Supports Elon Musk in Investigating ‘Hundreds of Billions’ in Military ‘Fraud’ | US News
Donald Trump expressed his confidence in Elon Musk and intends to request his assistance in probing billions of dollars worth of “fraud and abuse” within the US military.
The owner of X is leading efforts by the US president to reduce costs and bureaucracy in government, which has already resulted in the US Aid Agency for International Development being targeted.
Dubbed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), its mission is to identify methods for terminating federal jobs, eliminating programs, and reducing federal regulations.
However, concerns have been raised that Musk’s access to government systems might pose a national security risk.
In an interview with Fox News’s chief political anchor Bret Baier, the president voiced his full support for Mr Musk.
“I’ve received tremendous support from Elon Musk. He’s been fantastic,” he stated.

When asked about his trust in Musk, Mr Trump remarked: “Trust Elon? He has nothing to gain.”
“In fact, I question how he finds the time to manage all of this – he’s so involved.
“But I told him to undertake this task, and then I’ll instruct him very soon – perhaps within the next 24 hours – to examine the Department for Education. He’s going to uncover similar issues.
“Then I’ll direct him to the military – let’s scrutinize the military. We’re going to reveal billions, potentially hundreds of billions, of dollars’ worth of fraud and abuse.
“You know, the people elected me for that purpose.”
Mr Trump’s remarks come following the announcement that US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will collaborate with Mr Musk to enhance the department’s efficiency.
“We are collaborating with them at the president’s direction to identify what we can do to increase our department’s efficiency,” she stated in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” program.
“This is essentially an audit of the federal government, which holds significant power.”
