Elon Musk contributes significant funding to political group supporting Donald Trump, according to reports | US News

Billionaire Elon Musk has reportedly made a significant donation to a political group supporting presidential candidate Donald Trump.

According to sources cited by Bloomberg, the exact amount of the donation is unknown but it is described as substantial and was made to a group called America PAC.

Bloomberg also reported that the PAC, which can receive unlimited contributions for political activities, is required to disclose its list of donors on 15 July.

Back in March, Trump, who is set to be officially nominated as the Republican Party’s candidate for the 5 November election, met with Musk and other wealthy donors.

In response to reports about the meeting, Musk, who was born in South Africa, clarified on X: “Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President.”

He also denied in May media reports suggesting talks had taken place regarding a potential advisory role for him in a Trump administration.

Sky News has reached out to representatives of Musk, who heads Tesla, SpaceX, and X, for comment on the reports.

A spokesperson for the Biden campaign, James Singer, commented that Musk understands Trump is “a sucker who will sell America out, cutting his taxes while raising taxes on the middle class by $2,500”.

“Joe Biden has been standing up to people like Elon and fighting for the middle class his entire career – and it’s why he’ll win in November,” Singer added.

In recent years, Musk has shifted towards supporting the Republican Party, which has had an impact on the image and sales of Tesla, his main source of wealth.

Last month, Trump reiterated his intention to immediately reverse the Biden administration’s support for the electric vehicle industry.

However, he also expressed his admiration for electric cars and for Elon.

“He does an incredible job with Tesla,” Trump added.

Musk mentioned that they had discussed various topics and that Trump is particularly fond of Tesla’s Cybertrucks, the company’s electric pickup trucks.

While he has publicly criticized Biden’s stances on immigration, electric vehicles, and his age.
