Elon Musk: DOGE Team Receiving Daily Death Threats | US News
Elon Musk has reported that certain members of his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) are facing daily death threats.
The CEO of Tesla and proprietor of X made these remarks during a cabinet meeting at the White House, where he has faced backlash for his attempts to reduce the size of the US federal government.
In a span of just nine weeks, numerous government agencies have been disbanded, resulting in the dismissal or voluntary departure of tens of thousands of employees from the 2.3 million-strong federal workforce.
On Monday, US President Donald Trump convened his cabinet members, commending his department leaders for their efforts to cut costs, albeit recognizing that these decisions may not be “well-received”.
Mr. Trump stated that these cuts were necessary despite their potential political consequences. “I don’t know how it will be received by the public… but it’s something that must be carried out.”
The death threats that Mr. Musk claimed were directed at his DOGE staff followed recent assaults on Tesla showrooms, charging stations, and individual vehicles.
FBI Director Kash Patel mentioned that the agency is investigating what he refers to as “the rise in violent incidents directed at Tesla”.
In a post on X on Monday, he stated: “We are implementing further measures to address and coordinate our response to this. This constitutes domestic terrorism. Those accountable will be pursued, captured, and brought to justice”.
On Monday, Austin, Texas authorities announced an investigation into several incendiary devices discovered at a dealership.
Over the weekend, protests occurred at Tesla dealerships throughout North America, leading to altercations between pro and anti-Tesla demonstrators. A man drove his vehicle into campaigners outside a showroom in Florida, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, in California, authorities reported the arrest of a counter-demonstrator who activated a stun gun during an anti-Musk protest.
During the cabinet meeting on Monday, several cabinet members expressed their support for Musk and DOGE. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin praised the “remarkable” collaboration with his department, while Attorney General Pam Bondi complimented “Elon’s exceptional team”.

At one point, he claimed that the Small Business Administration had discovered a loan granted to a “very precocious” child.
However, there have been indications of strain over workforce reductions, with the President stating that any future cutbacks would be determined by department leaders. Nonetheless, he later asserted that Mr. Musk would step in if agencies do not execute adequate reductions.
‘False narrative of white genocide’
On a separate note, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa responded to Mr. Musk’s assertions that white individuals are being persecuted in his nation, labeling such claims as a “completely false narrative”.
This marked another attempt to dismiss assertions made by the Tesla CEO—who was born in South Africa—and Mr. Trump.
Mr. Musk has frequently accused the South African government of being anti-white and claimed on social media that certain political leaders are “actively promoting white genocide”.
