Elon Musk Invested Over $250 Million to Support Donald Trump’s US Election Bid | US News
According to reports from Sky News’ US partner NBC News, Elon Musk invested over $250 million (£196 million) to aid Donald Trump’s campaign during this year’s US election.
A significant portion of this funding included a last-minute advertising surge from a super PAC that saw Mr. Musk contribute $20 million (£15.7 million) to assert that Mr. Trump did not endorse a federal abortion ban.
Previously, Mr. Trump had claimed credit for the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
This amount constituted only a small fraction of Mr. Musk’s overall financial support for the Trump campaign.
Additionally, he funded America PAC, a super PAC that reported expenditures of $238 million (£186.7 million) aimed at supporting the presidential candidate’s campaign.
The most recent campaign finance disclosures indicate that the billionaire donated $120 million (£94 million) in the concluding weeks of the election.
This funding was largely allocated towards canvassing, text outreach, and digital advertising efforts.
America PAC also conducted the contentious $1 million (£0.78 million) cash giveaway as a strategy to incentivize voters to support the group’s conservative initiative.
America PAC is among several prominent political action committees operating in the US.
