Eric Carmen, lead singer of Raspberries and known for hit song “All By Myself,” passes away | Entertainment News

The lead singer of The Raspberries, Eric Carmen, known for hits like All By Myself and Hungry Eyes, has passed away at the age of 74.

His wife, Amy, shared the sad news on Eric’s official website.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eric Carmen,” she said.

“Our dear, talented Eric passed away peacefully in his sleep over the weekend.

“He was thrilled to know that his music had touched the hearts of so many for decades.”

She ended with a quote from his 1977 album Boats Against The Current: “love is all that matters… faithful and forever.”

Hailing from Ohio, Carmen gained fame with the Raspberries before launching a successful solo career with hits like Never Gonna Fall In Love Again.

His song All By Myself, famously covered by Celine Dion, is featured in the iconic opening scene of Bridget Jones’s Diary.

Hungry Eyes appeared in the film Dirty Dancing, starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.

Carmen also penned Almost Paradise for the Footloose soundtrack.

Co-founding the Raspberries in the early 1970s, Carmen later went solo after the band split in 1975.

Despite controversy surrounding their song Go All The Way, it still achieved chart success and was later included in the Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack.

After releasing four albums, Carmen joined Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band for a tour in 2000.

He is survived by his wife and two children, Kathryn and Clayton.
