Father of Teenage Son Sentenced to Minimum of 31 Years for Ordering Murder of Rapper and Robbery of Jewelry, PnB Rock | Entertainment & Arts Update
A man convicted of ordering his teenage son to murder a rapper and steal his jewellery at a Los Angeles restaurant has been sentenced to 31 years to life in prison.
Freddie Lee Trone, 42, was found guilty last month of one count of murder, two counts of robbery, and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery for instructing his 17-year-old son to carry out the attack on PnB Rock.
The son, deemed unfit for trial by a judge, entered Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles in September 2022, where he fatally shot the 30-year-old rapper and stole his jewelry.
The Philadelphia hip-hop star, known as Rakim Hasheem Allen, was dining with Stephanie Sibounheuang, his fiancée and mother of his four-year-old daughter.
The assailant, wearing a ski mask, shot Allen after threatening to harm Sibounheuang, according to Rolling Stone.
Sibounheuang testified that Allen protected her during the shooting, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries with gunshot wounds to his chest and back.
Prosecutors claimed the son acted on his father’s instructions, while Trone’s defense team, intending to appeal, argued that Trone was merely an accessory after the fact.
Trone, reported to be a member of a South Los Angeles gang, was sentenced at Compton Courthouse on Monday, according to NBC, Sky’s US partner.
District attorney George Gascon stated that Allen’s life “was tragically cut short by an act of violence that no family should bear.”
Deannea Allen, the rapper’s mother, expressed in court, as reported by Rolling Stone, her disbelief at a parent putting their child in such danger, noting the devastating impact of her son’s murder on many lives.

Trone’s now 19-year-old son, who was not named at the time of the killing due to his age, was also charged with murder but is currently in juvenile custody as ruled by a judge, citing his incompetence to stand trial.
PnB Rock was renowned for his 2016 hit Selfish and collaborations on songs like YFN Lucci’s Everyday We Lit and Ed Sheeran’s Cross Me, featuring Chance The Rapper.
Trone’s co-defendant Tremont Jones, 46, received a 12-year prison sentence for two robbery charges and one count of conspiracy.
