FBI Probes Drone Activity Around Trump Golf Club in New Jersey
Restrictions on flight have been implemented around Trump’s Bedminster club and a military research and manufacturing facility due to recent drone sightings.
The FBI, alongside local law enforcement in New Jersey, is appealing to the public for any information regarding a series of mysterious drone sightings that have occurred in the area over the past few weeks.
“Witnesses have reported seeing a group of what appear to be drones along with a potential fixed-wing aircraft,” stated the announcement. “We have received reports from both the public and law enforcement over the past several weeks.”
The drones’ proximity to President-elect Donald Trump’s National Golf Club in Bedminster, situated south of Morris County, has raised additional alarms.
Footage of the drone sightings has surfaced on social media, leading some to question the veracity of the visuals. Conversely, others have voiced worries about whether the objects are being utilized for surveillance or present some type of danger to the public.
Local eyewitnesses have reported to media outlets that the drones have been operating nearly every night in the vicinity for several weeks.
Walsh mentioned that the drones emit sounds similar to helicopters and can be observed for extended periods. He also expressed uncertainty about their launch and landing sites.
As per FAA regulations, drone pilots who violate flight restrictions, or endanger aircraft or individuals, risk having their licenses revoked or facing penalties up to $75,000.
