FBI Reports Impersonation in 2 Fake Election Security Videos
The FBI expressed concerns about attempts to impersonate the agency and deceive the public regarding its operations, stating that such actions ‘erode trust in the electoral system.’
The FBI has officially denied two videos claiming to be created by the bureau, which raise issues about election integrity.
According to the FBI statement, one video alleges that the bureau has captured three connected groups involved in ballot fraud.
Additionally, the FBI mentioned that the second video, in some way, involved Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff but provided no further details.
“These videos are not genuine, do not originate from the FBI, and contain false information. Ensuring election integrity is a top priority for us, and the FBI is collaborating closely with state and local law enforcement partners to address election threats and safeguard our communities as Americans exercise their right to vote,” stated the bureau.
“Efforts to dupe the public with false content about FBI operations undermine our democratic process and seek to diminish trust in the electoral system.”
False claims related to elections continue to impact the electoral process as states finish early voting and prepare to tally the votes on Nov. 5.
