FBI Reports New Orleans Attacker Worked Alone, Finds ‘No Definitive Link’ to Las Vegas Tesla Explosion | US News
The individual who drove a pickup truck into a gathering of New Year’s celebrants in New Orleans is believed to have acted independently, according to the FBI.
There is also “no definitive link” connecting the incident in New Orleans with the Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas, stated Christopher Raia, deputy assistant director of the FBI’s counter-intelligence division.
Raia characterized the event in New Orleans as “premeditated” and an “evil” act of terrorism, asserting that the assailant was “100% inspired by ISIS.”
Officials commenced the news conference by honoring the 14 “innocent victims” who lost their lives, along with the 15th victim being the suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar.
He noted that the agency is examining two laptops retrieved from Jabbar’s residence, along with three mobile phones and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) discovered near the attack site.
