Florida Initiates Criminal Investigation into Tate Brothers | US News
Florida has initiated a criminal investigation into Andrew and Tristan Tate just days after their arrival in the US from Romania.
The state’s governor, Ron DeSantis, stated that the brothers are not welcome and announced he would instruct the attorney general to probe into their alleged crimes.
James Uthmeier, the attorney general of Florida, confirmed that the investigation is “active” as they conduct a preliminary inquiry into the Tate brothers.
Uthmeier remarked: “Following a thorough review of the evidence, I have instructed the Office Of Statewide Prosecution to carry out search warrants and issue subpoenas as part of the ongoing criminal investigation concerning the Tate brothers.”
Andrew Tate, aged 38, responded by alleging that US authorities are “searching for crimes against an innocent man.”
He and his 36-year-old brother Tristan, who are embroiled in multiple legal issues in Romania, the UK, and the US, have denied all allegations against them. They arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, via a private plane last Thursday after departing from Romania.
The brothers are facing accusations in Romania related to human trafficking, sexual misconduct, and money laundering, as well as being part of an organized crime group.
Additionally, separate allegations of rape and human trafficking are currently under investigation by UK authorities.
A recent lawsuit filed in Florida charges both Tate brothers with conspiring to coerce a woman into sex work, bringing her to Romania, and defaming her following her testimony to Romanian officials. The Tate brothers had previously filed a defamation lawsuit against her in 2023.

How Tate made millions – despite serious charges
The Tates were detained in late 2022 and officially indicted last year in Romania on charges involving participation in a criminal organization that deceived women into coming to the country, where they were sexually exploited.
The self-proclaimed misogynists, who align themselves with US President Donald Trump, hold dual UK and US citizenship, and their provocative views have gained traction on social media platforms like TikTok and X.
They arrived in Florida following reports that the Trump administration had lobbied their Romanian counterparts to lift restrictions on the brothers while they are facing charges—though Mr. Trump has denied any involvement in the matter.
Romanian prosecutors later confirmed they approved a request for the Tates to leave the country, pending the ongoing criminal investigation.
