Grimes Calls Out Musk for Bringing Their Son to Oval Office Briefing | US News
Grimes has expressed her disapproval of former partner Elon Musk’s choice to bring their son to an Oval Office press conference.
The 36-year-old artist, who has had an intermittent relationship with Mr. Musk since 2018, apparently discovered through social media that he had brought X Æ A-12—abbreviated as X—to the briefing with Donald Trump on Tuesday.
Responding to a comment on X that praised her son’s politeness, Grimes remarked: “He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank you for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”
Mr. Musk, 53, carried the four-year-old on his shoulders while addressing reporters about his position as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

X Æ A-12 also stood next to his billionaire father and Mr. Trump during their conversation, at one point seemingly trying to speak to the president while Mr. Musk answered reporters’ questions.
He also interrupted his father occasionally as he faced inquiries regarding allegations of leading a “hostile takeover” of government operations in a non-transparent manner.
While cameras clicked, Mr. Trump commented: “X, are you okay? This is X, and he is a great guy with a high IQ. A very high IQ individual.”

X’s parents have previously discussed the meaning of his name, breaking it down into its individual parts.
Supposedly, “X” signifies the “unknown variable”.
“Æ” is the “elven spelling” of “Ai”, which translates to love in Chinese and is also an acronym for artificial intelligence.
Meanwhile, “A-12” represents their “favorite aircraft”.
X is one of three children that Mr. Musk and Grimes have together, along with his younger siblings Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus, or Tau for short.
The Tesla founder is a father to 12 children but tragically lost his first-born to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) when he was merely 10 weeks old.
