Hannah Kobayashi: Missing Woman Discovered Safe After Father’s Tragic Suicide in Search Effort | US News
The family of a woman whose father took his own life after she went missing has announced that she has been located alive.
Hannah Kobayashi traveled from Hawaii to Los Angeles in early November to board a connecting flight to New York, but she missed her second flight and subsequently disappeared after sending her family several distressing messages.
Ryan Kobayashi flew to LA to search for his daughter, looking for her with family members and volunteers, but was found deceased in a parking lot near LA International Airport in late November, having taken his own life, according to police and his family.
Today, Ms. Kobayashi’s family issued a statement confirming that she had been “found safe.”
The statement, signed by Brandi Yee and Sydni Kobayashi, expressed: “We are profoundly relieved and thankful that Hannah has been found safe.
“This past month has been an unfathomable ordeal for our family, and we respectfully ask for privacy as we take the time to heal and come to terms with everything we have endured.
“We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us during this challenging time. Your compassion and concern have meant everything to us.”
Earlier in December, police released a statement stating that Ms. Kobayashi had disappeared of her own accord.
