Harris Outspent Trump by a Wide Margin in the First Half of October

Vice President Kamala Harris raised nearly three times more than former President Donald Trump and also outspent him by more than two times, as per SEC filings.

During the first half of October, Vice President Kamala Harris raised almost three dollars for every dollar raised by President Donald Trump, according to recent federal filings.

On Oct. 24, the Democratic and Republican presidential candidate committees filed their final financial disclosure documents with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) before the Nov. 5 general election.

Between Oct. 1 and Oct. 16, Harris’s fundraising committees collected about $295.3 million, while Trump’s corresponding committees brought in around $117 million.

Additionally, during the same period, groups supporting Harris outspent Trump’s partners by more than two-to-one.

Throughout this crucial 16-day period, Harris’s campaign committee and main allied political action committees spent approximately $304.5 million, compared to about $143.7 million spent by Trump’s corresponding committees.

Harris Fundraising Profile

When Harris stepped in as the Democratic Party’s nominee following President Joe Biden’s exit, she gained a lead over the Republican candidate in polls. However, as the election draws closer, recent polls indicate a close race.

Despite the close competition, Harris had strong fundraising support from existing backing for Biden and continued to widen the financial gap in September and early October.

Public records indicate that the principal campaign committee, Harris for President, and the hybrid PAC Future Forward, or FF PAC, raised about $186.5 million at the start of October. They spent approximately $304.5 million during that period, leaving about $139.5 million in cash on hand by Oct. 17.

In contrast, the joint fundraising committees Harris Victory Fund and Harris Action Fund disclosed raising around $295.3 million between Oct. 1 and Oct. 16. These committees also spent about $404.5 million during that timeframe, with $260.7 million in cash on hand at quarter’s end.

Notably, Harris Victory Fund led the fundraising efforts during the pre-election period by raising approximately $108.3 million in the first half of October.
