Harris Raises More Funds Than Trump in Final Weeks of Election Campaign

In 2023 and 2024, the fundraising efforts of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris outperformed former President Donald Trump.

Vice President Kamala Harris raised significantly more money than former President Donald Trump leading up to the 2024 general election.

According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) requirements, the main campaign committees supporting the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates disclosed donations of over $1,000 received between Oct. 17 and Nov. 4. The disclosed totals revealed that Harris’s account received almost triple the amount Trump’s account did.

From Oct. 17 to Nov. 4, the main campaign committee Harris for President raised about $29.2 million, while the main committee Donald J. Trump for President 2024 Inc. raised about $10 million during the same period.

These numbers align with the final monthly reports filed by the campaigns at the end of October, showing that the Harris campaign was receiving three times more than the Trump campaign.

Throughout the election season from Jan. 1, 2023, to Nov. 5, 2024, the Harris campaign surpassed the Trump campaign in both fundraising and spending.

The committee originally backing President Joe Biden, known as Harris for President, took over the funds and resources from the Biden campaign when Harris became the official Democratic Party candidate in late July.

Between Jan. 1, 2023, and Oct. 16, 2024, Harris for President raised a total of $997.2 million. When adding the last-minute fundraising total, the Democrats’ total exceeded $1 billion.

In contrast, Trump’s campaign raised about $388.1 million during the same period.

Public records indicate that Harris for President spent approximately $880.2 million throughout the election cycle, while Trump’s campaign spent around $354.9 million.

These amounts do not include all outside spending towards or against the candidates. Several well-funded political action committees and nonprofit organizations heavily invested in the presidential race over the past two years.

AdImpact, a political spending tracking firm, reported that about $1.6 billion was spent on advertising supporting Harris or Biden during the election cycle, with approximately $932.5 million spent on pro-Trump ads.

A report from OpenSecrets in October stated that Republicans received the most outside spending in 2024.

The report highlighted Future Forward (FF PAC) and Make America Great Again Inc. as major supporters of the candidates.

FF PAC, a hybrid PAC emphasizing Democratic support for the presidency, raised over $394 million and spent $373.4 million between 2023 and mid-October 2024.

The primary supporter of FF PAC was the 501(c)(4) Future Forward Action USA, contributing about $128 million in 2024. In 2023, this nonprofit gave FF PAC around $8.4 million.

MAGA Inc., a super PAC in support of Trump, raised $331.5 million between Jan. 1, 2024, and Oct. 16, 2024, spending about $354.5 million during that period.

The main sponsor of MAGA Inc. was Timothy Mellon, who gave $140 million to the super PAC in 2024, along with $10 million in 2023.
