The consequence is the birth of a second eyewall, characterized by a larger radius but temporarily diminished intensity, reducing the storm’s peak wind velocities.

As time progresses, this nascent eyewall has the potential to regain its vigor, merging into a more compact and potent form, leading to a resurgence of the hurricane’s might, time before landfall permitting. The tempest occasionally emerges from this eyewall replacement cycle with even greater force than before the replacement cycle’s initiation.
