Hyundai to Recall 226,000 Vehicles Due to Rearview Camera Malfunction

Hyundai is conducting a recall of over 226,000 SUVs and small cars in the United States due to a potential issue with the rearview camera display on the screens.

This recall affects specific Santa Fe and Elantra vehicles from the model years 2021 and 2022.

According to documents released on Wednesday by U.S. safety regulators, Hyundai has identified that solder joints on a printed circuit board could develop cracks that may deteriorate over time, leading to camera malfunctions. This could result in reduced visibility and an increased risk of pedestrian injuries.

Hyundai will replace the cameras free of charge for affected owners, who will receive notification letters starting on January 19th.
