In Colorado, Teenagers Arrested by Police after Stolen Car Crashes and Catches Fire Following 100mph Chase
Two teenagers were arrested by police in the US after a high-speed chase resulted in a stolen vehicle crashing and catching fire.
The car collided with a curb and a tree, leading to it bursting into flames in Colorado. Larimer County officers used a precision immobilisation technique (PIT) to stop the vehicle.
During the chase on 14 November, speeds of up to 100mph were reached at times.
Law enforcement officers swiftly rescued two teenagers, Michael Howell-McGlynn and Kristine Elisabeth Romero, from the burning wreckage of the 2015 Subaru Forrester and also found a rifle in the vehicle.
Earlier, the car had evaded officers in Berthoud when they tried to stop it on a Thursday morning. The teenagers sustained injuries in the crash and were taken to a local hospital.
Police disclosed that the car had been stolen during an armed car theft in Weld County.
Mugshots of the teens garnered attention on the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, with Howell-McGlynn pictured with a bandaged face and Romero sporting two-toned hair, heavy eye makeup, and a bloodied lip.

Howell-McGlynn was charged with reckless driving, obstructing a police officer, and vehicular eluding resulting in injuries to another person, according to police. Romero was arrested for conspiracy to commit a class four felony and for an outstanding assault on a police officer warrant.

“The reckless behavior of this driver displays a disturbing disregard for the safety of others,” stated Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen. “Our deputies remain committed to protecting the community and apprehending dangerous criminals who jeopardize lives and property in Northern Colorado.”
