Demonstrations against the war in Gaza have escalated at US universities this week, resulting in clashes between students, counter-protesters, and police.
Students at numerous schools have gathered or set up camp in recent days to oppose the Israel-Hamas war.
They have urged US President Joe Biden to take more action to halt the violence in Gaza and have demanded that schools divest from companies supporting Israel’s government.
Here are photos from the protests held this week in Los Angeles, New York, and other locations across the US.
New York City police have arrested numerous pro-Palestinian demonstrators occupying an academic building on Columbia University campus and dismantled an encampment.

Supporters of Israel have also been demonstrating at George Washington University in Washington, where pro-Palestinian students have protested over the Israel-Hamas war.
The university is located just a few blocks from the White House, which has defended free speech.
Mr Biden has condemned “antisemitic protests” and emphasized the need for campuses to be safe, stating, “There is a right to protest but not a right to cause chaos.”
At Portland State University, police officers apprehended a protester who was attempting to block officers from leaving the area with vans full of detained students.
