A man and his three children found dead in a car submerged in a pond after a late night fishing trip ‘died accidentally’, a coroner’s office has said.

The bodies of Kyle Moorman, 27, and his children, Kyran Holland, one, Kyannah Holland, two, and Kyle Moorman II, five, were found on 12 July in Indianapolis.

The family died from drowning with Moorman found intoxicated by acute ethanol, according to Marion County coroner’s office.

The Holland children and their father had been missing since leaving for the fishing trip at the pond on the south side of Indianapolis on 6 July.

Officers visited the pond on 12 July in response to a report of a dead person in the water.

A man was soon pronounced dead, and a dive team later found a vehicle with the bodies of three children inside, police said at the time.

Family and friends of the deceased had offered a $10,000 (£8,691) reward for information leading to their location.

They had searched the pond and the surrounding area for days.

Mr Moorman’s sister, Mariah Moorman, had said the last time she was made aware of her brother’s location as a result of his phone signal was near the pond at about 12.40am on 7 July, a few hours after he was seen.

Mr Moorman would often go night fishing, his sister had said.

She told The Indianapolis Star at the time: “As far as we know, he was coming out here to go fishing.

“That’s what he told my sister. It’s not odd. He does it all the time.”
