Ingrid Andress acknowledges being intoxicated during national anthem performance and announces plans for rehab

A US country singer has apologized and admitted she was drunk when she performed an off-key version of the national anthem.

Ingrid Andress’s rendition at a baseball game was widely criticized and drew gasps from the crowd after one particularly shaky high note.

She was opening the show at Monday’s Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas, and it didn’t take long for people to express their shock on social media.

“I’m so sorry, I’m sure Ingrid Andress is a wonderful person, but that was one of the worst national anthems I think I’ve ever heard in my whole life,” said Sports Illustrated writer Alex Carr on X.

“When your Mom lied to you and said you were a great singer,” said a top comment on YouTube.

The 32-year-old was quick to apologize, posting on Instagram: “I’m not gonna bullshit y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need.

“That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let you know how rehab is, I hear it’s super fun.”
