Ivanka Trump Shares Key Reason for Steering Clear of Politics
The eldest daughter of the president-elect has reiterated her decision to stay away from Washington during this term.
Ivanka Trump recently confirmed in an interview that she will not be re-entering the political arena as her father, President-elect Donald Trump, prepares to assume office next week.
The eldest daughter of the president-elect, who served as one of his primary advisors during his initial term, shared on a podcast this Tuesday that she intends to remain distant from Washington throughout his second term.
“Some individuals thrive on the competitive aspect of it—the struggle. That has never been my inclination.”
During the interview, the younger Trump expressed her desire to prioritize her family.
“The primary reason for not returning to serve now is that I understand the cost involved, which is a burden I’m not willing to let my children bear,” she stated.
“I did my utmost during my time, and I believe I was present for all the significant moments; however, it is also important not to overlook the smaller ones.”
“I deeply love my father. [But] this time, I have chosen to focus on my young children and the private life we are building as a family. I do not intend to engage in politics,” Ivanka Trump mentioned in late 2022.
“I have been very clear that my current goal is to concentrate on my firm,” Kushner remarked. “My family has really enjoyed the chance to step out of the limelight.”
Both Kushner and Ivanka Trump served in the first Trump administration and were involved in the campaigns for Trump’s 2016 and 2020 bids. Ivanka Trump also held the position of executive vice president in the Trump Organization and was a judge on her father’s NBC program, “The Apprentice.”
Just days prior to Trump’s victory in November 2024, Kushner stated to The New York Times that there was “zero” chance his wife would rejoin a second Trump administration, as she had “decided when she left Washington to close that chapter of her life.”
Since exiting the White House in 2021, both have kept a relatively low profile and made limited remarks regarding Trump’s campaign or electoral success. Ivanka Trump released a statement after an attempted assassination on her father in mid-July.
She appeared alongside other family members, including Trump’s other children, during the Republican National Convention held in Milwaukee in August 2024.
In contrast, Trump’s two oldest sons—Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump—have actively participated in campaign events, regularly addressing rallies and engaging in media interviews on behalf of their father.
