Jay-Z Files Lawsuit Against Woman Who Previously Accused Him of Rape, Then Withdraws Claim | Entertainment News

Jay-Z has initiated a lawsuit against the woman who alleged that he raped her, in a complaint that has since been retracted.

According to Sky News’ US affiliate, NBC News, the 55-year-old music icon has filed a defamation suit against the accuser.

The rapper allegedly accused the woman and her legal representatives of being “driven by avarice, showing a complete disregard for the truth,” claiming their actions adversely affected both his personal and professional reputation.

Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, reportedly submitted the lawsuit to a federal court in Alabama, where the woman, identified in the lawsuit as “Jane Doe,” resides.

The original claim made by the woman involved accusations against Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

Last month, the initial allegation was withdrawn with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled in court.

When the lawsuit was dismissed, Jay-Z stated: “Today is a victory. These frivolous, fictitious, and outrageous allegations have been dismissed.

“The fabricated story they conjured was amusing, if it weren’t for the gravity of the claims. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.”

In her lawsuit filed in New York, the woman accused Carter and Combs of raping her after a party following the 2000 MTV Music Video Awards.

In his lawsuit, Jay-Z pointed out inconsistencies in the woman’s narrative, which were reported by NBC News.

This reportedly included her assertion that her father drove her home, while he claimed not to remember making the five-hour journey at that time.

She also mentioned conversing with musician Benji Madden at the party; however, a representative for Madden stated neither he nor his brother Joel attended the 2000 VMAs, as they were on tour in the Midwest, NBC News added.

Jay-Z is requesting a jury trial and seeks unspecified damages.

Nonetheless, in a legal filing made on Monday, the woman asserted that she continues to stand by her account, according to NBC News.
