Jay-Z Rape Accuser Admits to Inconsistencies in Her Claims | Entertainment & Arts News
A woman, referred to as “Jane Doe” (a legal term in the US for anonymity), has accused rappers Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her at the age of 13 after the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. However, she has recognized discrepancies in her account.
In an interview with Sky’s US partner NBC News, she stated, “I have made some mistakes,” but maintains that she stands by her accusations overall.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and Combs have both refuted these allegations.
The inconsistencies in her narrative include a claim that her father picked her up after the alleged incident, which he denies, stating he does not recall such a long trip, which would have taken over five hours.
Additionally, she mentioned speaking with a celebrity during the party, but that individual has asserted they were not present, as they were touring at the time.
Images examined by NBC News reveal Combs and Carter at a different venue than what the woman described. The timing of those images remains unclear, as does whether they attended any other after-parties.
The discrepancies in her description of the events from 24 years ago do not automatically invalidate her accusations.
A friend who reportedly drove her from Rochester, New York, to Radio City Music Hall in New York City has since passed away.
The lawsuit has been initiated by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, who claims to be representing 120 claimants in cases against Combs.
In response to these latest developments, Carter and his attorney Alex Spiro issued statements on X, denouncing the allegations as a “false complaint” and labeling the case as “frivolous.”
Carter asserted: “Today’s investigative report demonstrates this ‘attorney’ Buzbee filed a false complaint against me in pursuit of monetary gain and notoriety.
“This incident did not occur, yet he submitted it in court and reinforced it in the media.
“Genuine justice is on its way. We stand in victory, not in pursuit of it.
“This was over before it even started. This 1-800 lawyer doesn’t realize it yet, but soon.”
Carter has previously called for the woman’s identity to be disclosed, or for the case to be dismissed.
Mr. Spiro remarked: “It is astonishing that a lawyer would file such a serious complaint without due diligence, and then exacerbate matters by promoting this false narrative in the media.
“We are asking the court to dismiss this frivolous case today and will seek further disciplinary action against Mr. Buzbee and all the lawyers associated with this complaint.”

The accuser’s attorney, Mr. Buzbee, stated in an email to NBC that her allegations are still being verified and that supporting information is being gathered.
He added: “Due to our thorough interrogation of her, she has even agreed to take a polygraph… This has been incredibly distressing for her, leading to seizures and requiring medical care due to the stress.”
Mr. Buzbee has previously dismissed claims of “foolish” blackmail attempts, asserting he plans to address all allegations in court.
Attorneys for Combs labeled the lawsuit a “shameful money grab.”
Meanwhile, Combs has abandoned his bail appeal after three unsuccessful attempts and will remain in custody in Brooklyn until his trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges in May.
