Jay-Z Refutes Sexual Assault Claims in Civil Lawsuit
The plaintiff claims that Jay Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs raped her at a party when she was just 13 years old.
On December 8, American rapper Jay-Z, 55, issued a denial against the allegations of sexual assault after his name was included in a civil lawsuit with Sean “Diddy” Combs, accusing both men of drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl over two decades ago.
The lawsuit, which was updated on December 8 and reviewed by The Epoch Times, names Jay-Z by his legal name, Shawn Corey Carter, alongside Combs, who faced criminal charges in September for racketeering, sex trafficking, and additional offenses.
The original case was filed in October in the Southern District of New York, listing Combs as the sole defendant.
The updated complaint reveals that the plaintiff, identified as “Jane Doe,” alleges she was drugged and sexually assaulted by both men during an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.
Carter stated he would not yield to the threat and instead intends to “expose” what he claims are fraudulent allegations in court.
“These accusations are so appalling that I urge you to file a criminal complaint instead of a civil one! Whoever would commit such a heinous act against a minor deserves to be imprisoned, don’t you think?” Carter exclaimed.
“These alleged victims would truly deserve justice if that were the case.”
Buzbee replied on social media platform X to Carter’s statements, claiming that since he sent the letter on behalf of his client, Carter has “filed his frivolous case under a pseudonym” and has attempted to intimidate and harass both him and the plaintiff.
As of the time of publication, Carter has not commented publicly on his alleged ties to the Quinn Emanuel lawsuit against Buzbee.
Buzbee further stated that while Carter claims the lawsuit is merely a “greedy” ploy for his money, the plaintiff did not request any financial compensation from Carter in the settlement proposal.
Buzbee asserted that Jay-Z’s reaction to the settlement threats has not deterred his client but rather “had the opposite effect. She feels empowered.”
“I’m very proud of her determination,” he commented.
Buzbee indicated he would not provide further commentary on the allegations or the case, stating, “[W]e will allow the filing to speak for itself and will litigate the facts in court, not in the media.”
“Mr. Combs has complete faith in the facts and the integrity of the judicial system,” they stated. “In court, the truth will come out: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—neither men nor women, adult or minor.”
