Joe Biden hints at possibility of dropping Julian Assange prosecution in US
The US is currently contemplating dropping the prosecution of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, following a request from the Australian government.
President Joe Biden responded with “we’re considering it” when questioned about the request by reporters at the White House on Wednesday.
Assange is presently held in Belmarsh prison in London after his removal from the Ecuadorian embassy in 2019.
He has been facing charges in the US for an alleged conspiracy to obtain and disclose classified information following the release of numerous leaked documents related to the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
