The former president he served under as vice president had remained silent until now. Barack Obama‘s suggestion that he should “consider his viability” is a significant setback.
Nancy Pelosi, former speaker and a longtime friend and ally of Joe Biden, had already advised him to step aside.

Seventy percent of Americans and 65% of Democrats also believe he should withdraw from the race.
A voter outside the White House commented, “COVID is the least of my concerns about Joe Biden and his condition.”
Another visitor from Texas expressed suspicion that the Democrats were using the virus as “a ploy”.
“We just can’t trust them. We’ve seen what they’ve done before,” she said.
When asked if she preferred another man in the White House, she answered: “I need a leader.”
Senior Democrats are suggesting that he will exit the race, potentially as soon as this weekend.
