Judge Denies Bail for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs as He Awaits Trial for Sex Trafficking | Entertainment & Arts Update
The famous rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has once again been denied bail by a judge as he waits for trial on charges related to sex trafficking.
This means that the artist and producer, also known as P Diddy, will remain in custody, despite a $50 million attempt to secure his release.
Combs was taken into custody in September on suspicion of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He has been behind bars for the past 10 weeks.
The hip-hop mogul has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he coerced and mistreated women for years with the help of a network of associates and employees, while using blackmail and violence to silence victims – including kidnapping, arson, and physical violence.
He maintains that his intimate relationships were consensual and refutes any wrongdoing.
This marks the fourth time the 55-year-old has unsuccessfully tried to be released prior to his trial. His legal team made two requests soon after he was charged, followed by an unsuccessful appeal in October.
US District Judge Arun Subramanian disclosed the latest bail denial in a written ruling after a two-hour hearing on November 22 in Manhattan federal court.
Combs is currently held in custody in Manhattan, awaiting a criminal trial scheduled to commence on May 5 next year.
In addition, he is facing multiple civil lawsuits, with one attorney stating in October that their firm was representing over 100 accusers.
