Judge Orders Return of Maryland Man Who Was Wrongfully Deported
The judge has declared his removal to be unlawful.
A federal judge in Maryland has instructed the Trump administration to reinstate a man who was incorrectly deported to El Salvador.
During a hearing on April 4, U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis posed several questions to a Department of Justice attorney. DOJ attorney Erez Reuveni was unable to specify the basis under which Kilmar Abrego Garcia was detained.
Judge Xinis stated that the deportation of Abrego Garcia was an unlawful action.
The White House has asserted that Abrego Garcia, 29, is connected to the MS-13 gang and argues that U.S. courts do not have jurisdiction in this case since the Salvadoran national is no longer present in the United States.
