Julian Assange’s Extradition to the US Denied After Reaching Plea Deal | Global News



US authorities have agreed to drop their demand for Julian Assange to be extradited from the UK after reaching a plea deal with the Wikileaks founder.

In exchange for pleading guilty to Conspiracy to Obtain and Disclose National Defence Information, Assange will be sentenced to time served, which amounts to 62 months – the duration he has already spent in a British prison.

Once released, Assange will be able to return to Australia, his country of birth.
