Justice Department Establishes Task Force to Address Antisemitism in Educational Institutions
The action follows President Donald Trump signing an executive order on Friday aimed at addressing the growing hostility towards Jewish students on college campuses.
On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) declared the establishment of a multi-agency task force dedicated to combating antisemitism in educational institutions and on college campuses.
This task force will be led by Leo Terrell, a senior counsel to the assistant attorney general for civil rights, and will operate under the coordination of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division.
In addition to DOJ representatives, the task force will comprise members from the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, “and other agencies as it evolves,” the DOJ mentioned.
This initiative comes after Trump signed an executive order on Friday aimed at combating antisemitism, primarily to tackle the escalating hostility directed at Jewish students on college campuses, particularly in environments where pro-Palestinian activism has surged following Israel’s response to Hamas’s terrorist assault on October 7, 2023.
