Kamala Harris’s step-daughter responds to JD Vance’s ‘childless cat ladies’ comments resurfacing | US News
Kamala Harris’s step-daughter responded to JD Vance’s recent comments referring to the vice president and other Democrats as “childless cat ladies”.
Vance, the Republican nominee for vice president chosen by Donald Trump, criticized Harris and other Democrats in a 2021 interview, labeling them as “a bunch of childless cat ladies… miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made”.
“It’s just a basic fact,” Vance stated on Fox News. “You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] – the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children. How does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?”
Despite Vance’s comments, Harris, 59, co-parents two stepchildren – Ella and Cole – with her husband Doug Emhoff.
After the resurfacing of the clip, Emhoff’s ex-wife Kerstin denounced the remarks as “baseless attacks” and described the vice president as “loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present”.
Ella, one of Kamala Harris’s stepchildren, defended her family by highlighting their close bond and stating, “I love my three parents.”
Jennifer Aniston and other celebrities also criticized JD Vance for his remarks, with Aniston expressing disbelief that such comments were coming from a potential Vice President of the United States.
Aniston, who revealed her own struggles with infertility and IVF treatments, expressed her disappointment in Vance’s stance on IVF rights.
In a revealing interview with Allure magazine in 2022, Jennifer Aniston opened up about her IVF journey and emphasized the importance of maintaining IVF rights for all individuals.
Vance, who opposed the Right to IVF Act, was criticized for his stance on reproductive rights. The Harris campaign reiterated that all Americans have a stake in the country’s future, regardless of their parental status.
The accuracy of Vance’s comments about other Democrats, like Pete Buttigieg, was also questioned as Buttigieg and his husband announced the adoption of infant twins before Vance’s remarks were made.
