Kanye West’s Yeezy Online Store Shut Down Due to Swastika T-Shirts | Entertainment & Arts News
Kanye West’s Yeezy e-commerce platform has been shut down after it displayed T-shirts featuring a swastika.
The rapper and entrepreneur utilized a Super Bowl advertisement on Sunday to direct viewers to his site, where clothing adorned with the Nazi symbol—typically associated with far-right ideologies—was being sold.
The platform has now been suspended by Shopify, the organization that manages numerous online retail sites.
Shopify stated in an email to NBC News, a sister channel of Sky News: “All merchants are required to adhere to our platform’s rules. This merchant did not participate in legitimate commercial activities and breached our terms, prompting us to remove them from Shopify.”
A spokesperson for West has yet to comment to NBC regarding the situation.
The white T-shirts displayed a black swastika on the front and were the sole items available on the front page of yeezy.com as of Monday morning, according to NBC News.
No descriptive text or context accompanied the item, aside from the letters “HH-01.” They were priced at $20 (£16).
