Keanu Reeves, known for Speed and The Matrix, crashes during professional racing debut at Indianapolis | US News
Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves had an exciting debut in professional motor racing at a famous US circuit.
The star spun off the track but managed to avoid crashing during the Toyota GR Cup at the renowned Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday.
Reeves, 60, went off track on the exit of turn nine, halfway through the race, but quickly got back on track and continued driving, showing no signs of injury.
Starting from 31st place, he avoided a crash on the first lap and even climbed to 21st place before eventually finishing 25th out of 35 competitors.
The Matrix star teamed up with Cody Jones from the Dude Perfect YouTube sports series for the race.
The Toyota GR Cup is a Toyota spec-racing series held before the Indy 8 Hour sports car event this weekend.
Reeves, who has another race scheduled for Sunday, drove the No. 92 BRZRKR car, which is linked to his graphic novel The Book Of Elsewhere.
This isn’t his first racing experience, as he previously participated in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach celebrity race and emerged as the winner in 2009.
A big fan of motorsports, Reeves hosted the 2023 documentary series, Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story, which covered the success of the Brawn GP F1 team in winning both the driver and constructor world championships shortly after its formation.
