Kevin Spacey Tells Guy Pearce to ‘Grow Up’ Following Claims of Being ‘Targeted’ by House of Cards Star | Entertainment & Arts News
Kevin Spacey has delivered a forceful rebuttal to accusations that he “targeted” Guy Pearce, telling his former co-star, “you’re not a victim” and urging him to “grow up”.
On Tuesday, Pearce discussed the 1997 film LA Confidential, becoming emotional as he alleged that Spacey had pursued him during the filming of the Oscar-winning feature.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, he expressed, “I was somewhat intimidated by Kevin because he’s quite an aggressive individual.”
“He is incredibly charming and excels at his craft… but I was young and impressionable, and he certainly targeted me.”
Pearce, who is 57, recounted specific instances of alleged encounters but mentioned that he experienced “a couple of confrontations with Kevin” that “became nasty” following the filming of LA Confidential.
Spacey, now 65, has spent years contending with allegations of sexual harassment and assault, all of which he firmly denies. However, he has acknowledged “being overly touchy” in the past.
The star of House of Cards and Oscar winner recounted having “been through hell and back” in a video statement on X, where he rejected Pearce’s accusations and criticized him for going public.
“We could have discussed this privately, but you’ve chosen to speak with the media, who are now, of course, coming after me, eager to know my side regarding your statements,” Spacey remarked in the video.
“Guy, you really need to mature. You are not a victim.”
Spacey subsequently posed a series of questions to Pearce: “Did you, by the way, inform the press that a year after we filmed LA Confidential, you traveled to Savannah, Georgia – while I was shooting Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil – just to visit me?”
He further inquired: “Did you mention that to the media as well? Or does that not fit your victim narrative?”

In 2017, actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of sexual assault, and Spacey was determined not liable in a subsequent civil lawsuit.
He faced additional allegations of groping an 18-year-old at a Massachusetts bar in 2016, with the charges dropped in 2019 after the accuser declined to testify.
In 2023, Spacey was also acquitted by a UK jury of sexually assaulting four men while serving as the artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre.
Last week, an additional civil lawsuit was filed in the UK against Spacey and the Old Vic, alleging sexual abuse.
Spacey has consistently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct.
