Los Angeles to Host Wonka-Inspired Chocolate Experience, Inspired by Glasgow Event | US News
The notorious Willy Wonka-inspired chocolate event in Glasgow, which caused distress among children and led to police involvement, is set to be recreated in Los Angeles.
This unique event has been described as “tongue in cheek” and Hollywood comedic actor Zach Galifianakis is reportedly involved in the project.
A website selling tickets for the event stated that all proceeds will go to a “mental health charity” and assured attendees that they will deliver on their promises.
The original event called “Willy’s Chocolate Experience” in Scotland, which charged £35 per ticket, gained attention for all the wrong reasons as pictures revealed a mostly empty warehouse with minimal decorations and attractions.
Families were guaranteed a “chocolate fantasy like never before”, but instead experienced disappointment and chaos, leading to demands for refunds and police intervention.
Actress and yoga instructor Kirsty Paterson, 29, who became a viral sensation after appearing as a sad Oompa Loompa at the Glasgow event, will be the central figure in the California rendition.
Ms Paterson is being promoted as the “infamous Scottish Oompa Loompa” and will participate in a Q&A session.

Guests are encouraged to “immerse themselves in a world of pure imagination at Willy’s Chocolate Experience Los Angeles as chocolate fantasies are brought to life” in a “ordinary” warehouse, where each $44 (£35) ticket will come with two complimentary jelly beans on April 28th.
In an interview with the Daily Record, Ms Paterson described this opportunity as a “modern-day fairytale” and clarified that the organizers have no connection to the previous Glasgow event organizers.

Ms Paterson shared that she has received encouraging messages from American celebrities and aspires to venture into children’s television hosting.
She expressed, “I didn’t anticipate ending up in the USA or achieving this level of success because America operates on a different scale. This is my first time in America, and as a trained actor, it’s a thrilling opportunity for me.”
“I’m attending numerous meetings and networking events there. As a qualified actress, there’s a possibility of me transitioning into movies.”

Visitors can anticipate a variety of captivating activities in downtown LA, including DJ sets, film screenings, and the chance to meet Ms Paterson, who is praised for her kind-hearted nature.
Reportedly, Galifianakis will lead a Q&A session at the event alongside comedian Nathan Fielder.
Ms Paterson, an admirer of both individuals, expressed her excitement to meet them in person.
The event listing also mentions: “Furthermore, popular actor Timothee Chalamet has shown interest in attending, adding to the buzz surrounding this extraordinary event.”
