Luigi Mangione, Suspect in Healthcare Executive Shooting, Extradited to New York for Murder Charges | US News
Luigi Mangione, the individual charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has consented to extradition to New York to face murder charges.
The 26-year-old waived his right to an extradition hearing at Blair County Court in Pennsylvania and was promptly handed over to a team of NYPD officers.
He is being taken to New York, where he will face charges connected to the shooting of Brian Thompson, a father of two, outside a Hilton hotel in Manhattan on December 4.
According to several sources, he is also expected to face additional federal charges in New York.

Mangione, an Ivy League alumnus, made a court appearance wearing an orange jumpsuit in Pennsylvania, where he was captured at a McDonald’s after evading authorities for five days.
The NYPD swiftly placed him into a waiting SUV, and he later boarded a small plane to New York.
He was arrested on December 9 and charged with murder the following day.
On December 18, he faced additional charges of murder as an act of terrorism. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. His arraignment in New York state court may occur today or tomorrow.
Sky News previously reported that court documents revealed Mangione began to tremble when questioned by officers about his recent whereabouts in New York.

Upon his arrest, authorities reported that Mangione possessed the firearm used to kill Mr. Thompson, along with a passport, a forged ID, and approximately $10,000 in US and foreign currency.
Mangione, a computer science graduate from a well-known Maryland family, was also found with a handwritten note denouncing health insurance companies as “parasitic” and expressing discontent with corporate greed, according to a law enforcement bulletin obtained by the Associated Press last week.
In Pennsylvania, Mangione faces additional charges of forgery and illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm.
