MAGA Turned Against Trump-Appointed Supreme Court Justice for Not Being Loyal Enough | US News
Supporters of Donald Trump have turned against one of the justices he nominated to the US Supreme Court, expressing dissatisfaction with her perceived loyalty to the president.
Justice Amy Coney Barrett, a staunch conservative, was appointed to the nation’s highest court by Mr. Trump in 2020 and has voted in favor of significant rulings, such as overturning abortion rights.
Nonetheless, this appears insufficient for some members of the MAGA base. Following several recent 5-4 rulings, where she cast the deciding vote against Mr. Trump’s agenda, right-wing commentators have expressed their outrage.
Justice Barrett was part of the justices who dismissed the Trump administration’s efforts to circumvent payments to federal contractors tied to cuts in the US foreign aid program.
“She is a rattled law professor with her head up her a**,” remarked Mike Davis, who previously worked for another Supreme Court justice, labeling Justice Barrett as “weak and timid.”
“DEI judge,” influencer Jack Posobiec critiqued on X, implying that she was a “diversity, equity, and inclusion” appointment—likely because she is a woman.

This backlash comes despite Justice Barrett’s consistent support for conservative rulings, including the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the expansion of gun rights.
“It appears there is a belief that unwavering personal loyalty to Donald Trump is necessary for a Supreme Court justice,” stated Anthony Kreis, a professor at Georgia State University College of Law.
“It seems irrelevant how conservative that individual might be,” he added.
Justice Barrett has previously discussed how her Supreme Court appointment, along with the security concerns that accompany it, has impacted her and her family.
