Marjorie Taylor Greene Says She Was Attacked at Restaurant Over Political Views

Incident follows Greene’s advocacy for a ‘national divorce’ of red and blue states

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said she was “attacked” at a restaurant on Feb. 27 by an “insane woman” and her adult son.

“They had no respect for the restaurant, or the staff, or the other people dining,” Greene said in a post on Twitter. “Or people like me who simply have different political views.”

Greene said she was sitting at a table, working with her staff, and “never even noticed these people until they turned into demons.”

“People used to respect others even if they had different views,” Greene said. “But not anymore.”

Polite, Then Started Berating

Communications Director at Greene for Congress Nick Dyer said the woman introduced herself politely at first and then started berating Greene.

“At that point, her 20-year-old son started screaming expletives at the top of his lungs and came closer,” Dyer said. “I had to get in between him and the table because I had no clue what he’d do.”

There was more screaming by the man, Dyer said, while his mother continued to berate Greene.

“Finally staff came and demanded that they leave,” Dyer said. “The staff apologized and moved us to a more private table.”

The police were not called, Dyer said.

The incident comes after Greene made headlines this past week when she advocated for a “national divorce” of red and blue states.

“We need a national divorce. We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government,” Greene said on Twitter on Feb. 27.

Promoting a ‘National Divorce’

“From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.”

Greene initially suggested the idea of a “national divorce” in late 2021.

“After Democrat voters and big donors ruin a state like California, you would think it wise to stop them from doing it to another great state like Florida,” Greene said on Twitter in December 2021. “All possible in a National Divorce scenario.”

The Feb. 27 attack on Greene is not the first time the congresswoman has received threats during her time in office.

This past month Joseph Morelli, 51, pleaded guilty to leaving threatening phone messages for Greene in March 2022.

Morelli faces up to five years in prison and will be sentenced in June, according to the U.S. attorney’s office of the Northern District of New York.

Greene said the latest attackers were “self-righteous, insane, and completely out of control.”

“Our country is gone,” Greene said.
