Matty Healy responds to Taylor Swift’s new song in the entertainment world
Matty Healy has responded to the new tracks by his rumored ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, which are believed to be about him.
The 1975 lead vocalist is not directly mentioned in any of the songs on Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, but fans speculate that some references point to him.
Several fans have interpreted the lyrics of the first song on the album, “Fortnight,” as being about him, especially the line where she sings: “And I love you, it’s ruining my life, I touched you for only a fortnight.”
It is widely assumed that he is also the subject of the song “Guilty As Sin,” where she mentions having “fatal fantasies” about someone from her past while in a relationship.
Some fans are also suggesting that the song “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” hints at Healy “ghosting” her.
“You tried to buy some pills, from a friend of mine, they just ghosted you, now you know what it feels like,” she sings.
In a video circulating online, Healy was asked by a photographer in Los Angeles about his “Taylor diss track” and how he thought it compared to the other songs on the 31-track double album.
Healy, looking puzzled, responded: “My diss track?”
The photographer clarified: “Yeah, Taylor’s new song?”
“Oh!” Healy laughed, adding: “I haven’t really listened to that much of it, but I’m sure it’s good.”

Healy made a surprise appearance during Swift’s Eras tour in Nashville last May to perform with her support act, Phoebe Bridgers.
Swift also covered two The 1975 songs at their London concert in February 2023.
By June of last year, reports emerged that the pair were no longer romantically involved, with a source telling People magazine that the relationship was always casual.
“She had fun with him, but it was always casual,” the source stated.
