Megan Thee Stallion Given Restraining Order Against Incarcerated Tory Lanez Following 2020 Shooting | Entertainment & Arts News
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has been issued a restraining order against imprisoned rapper Tory Lanez, lasting until early 2030.
A judge in Los Angeles approved Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, request for a protective order after she accused Lanez of harassing her from prison via intermediaries.
Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting the hip-hop artist in the foot and telling her to dance as she walked away from an SUV after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner‘s home in Hollywood Hills in July 2020.
At 29, Megan Thee Stallion obtained a temporary restraining order in November, alleging that Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, is utilizing third parties to continue his online harassment.
According to her petition, call records from the California jail where Lanez is incarcerated indicate he is orchestrating attacks on her credibility, including false assertions regarding the absence of evidence related to the gun and bullet fragments involved in the case.
A summary of Thursday’s court proceedings revealed that the judge determined Megan Thee Stallion’s legal team successfully demonstrated the need to extend the temporary restraining order until January 9, 2030.
In response, Lanez’s attorney argued against the restraining order, claiming that his client’s imprisonment eliminates any “current or future threat” to Megan Thee Stallion, noting that there has been no recent direct contact between the two.
In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty on three counts: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Megan Thee Stallion was already an up-and-coming star at the time of the incident, and her popularity has surged since then. She won a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2021 and has had number one hits with “Savage” and as a featured artist on Cardi B’s “WAP.”
Lanez, 32, started his career by releasing mixtapes in 2009 and steadily gained popularity, with his last two major label albums reaching the top 10 on Billboard’s charts.
