Meta, Led by Mark Zuckerberg, Contributes $1 Million to Donald Trump’s Inauguration Fund | US News
Meta, the company founded by Mark Zuckerberg, has donated $1 million to the inauguration fund of Donald Trump as the Facebook creator seeks to rebuild relationships with the incoming president.
In August, Mr. Trump threatened to imprison the billionaire if he engaged in “any illegal” activities regarding the presidential election.
However, last month, the two shared a meal at Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, where Mr. Zuckerberg expressed his desire to back “national renewal,” as explained by the president-elect’s deputy chief of staff.
The Wall Street Journal reports that these efforts culminated in the $1 million donation, marking a shift after years of the tech mogul generally avoiding involvement in presidential campaigns.
Contributions to the inauguration fund are allocated for events surrounding the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for January.
The publication further suggests that Mr. Zuckerberg and his team held discussions with Marco Rubio, Trump’s pick for secretary of state, along with several senior members of the incoming White House administration.
Prior to the November dinner, the Meta founder allegedly conducted a private presentation for Mr. Trump showcasing his company’s smart glasses, which he presented as a gift to the president-elect.

This development follows years of a complicated relationship between the two.
Mr. Trump was banned from Facebook after the events of January 6 insurrection.
In July, he posted a message on his Truth Social platform, threatening to imprison election fraud perpetrators. He also used a derogatory nickname for the Meta founder, cautioning “Zuckerbucks” to “be careful.”
Back in 2017, Mr. Zuckerberg expressed his “concern” regarding Mr. Trump’s executive order to restrict citizens from seven Muslim-majority nations from entering the US during his initial term.
