Mike Tyson, boxing legend, becomes ill on American Airlines flight from Miami to Los Angeles | US News
According to his representatives, Mike Tyson has been recovering after becoming ill during a flight.
The 58-year-old former heavyweight champion experienced an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing on Sunday, resulting in him feeling nauseous and dizzy, as stated by his publicist’s office.
“Fortunately, Mr Tyson is now in good health,” the statement confirmed.
“He is grateful for the medical staff who assisted him.”
Emergency responders were dispatched to American Airlines flight 1815 from Miami upon its arrival at LA International Airport due to a passenger’s medical needs, as per an airline statement.
Tyson is scheduled to face 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on 20 July at the Dallas Cowboys’ 80,000-seat stadium.
The fight will be broadcast live on Netflix, marking a first for the streaming service.
Tyson held the undisputed world heavyweight championship from 1987 to 1990.
Although he retired in 2005, Tyson participated in an exhibition match in 2020 against Roy Jones in California.
In August 2022, photos surfaced showing the boxing icon in a wheelchair with a walking stick at an airport terminal, with Tyson later disclosing his struggles with sciatica.
