Mike Tyson to face off against Jake Paul in officially sanctioned professional boxing match with rules revealed | Entertainment & Arts News
Mike Tyson’s upcoming fight with Jake Paul has been approved as a professional boxing match by Texas authorities.
Although it will be shorter than typical pro fights, consisting of eight two-minute rounds, it will still go on their official records.
The gloves for the fight will be heavier at 14oz, compared to the usual 10oz used in professional boxing.
There were initial concerns about the rules of the fight, considering the age gap between the 57-year-old Tyson and Paul, who is 27.
Some also expressed worries about the potential health risks involved, fearing Tyson’s power could cause serious injury to his less experienced opponent.
Videos of Tyson’s training show him displaying his trademark intensity on the punching bag.
However, there are doubts about his fitness and concerns that facing a much younger opponent could lead to him getting hurt.
The fight was officially announced last month and is scheduled for July 20th in Arlington. The event will be streamed live on Netflix.
The promoters worked closely with the Texas licensing authorities to get the match approved as an official professional fight.
