Mindy Kaling Reveals Meghan’s Culinary Talents | Entertainment & Arts News
Mindy Kaling has commended the Duchess of Sussex for her cooking abilities, also mentioning that Prince Harry is “a very decent cook” as well.
The 45-year-old actress is an exclusive guest on the royal’s upcoming Netflix series – With Love, Meghan – which the streaming platform describes as a “reimagining of the lifestyle genre”.
Kaling, a mother of three – Katherine, seven, Spencer, four, and Anne, 11 months – shared with Deadline on the Golden Globes red carpet: “I was just on maternity leave when Meghan texted me, asking if I’d like to be part of her show and visit Montecito for her to cook for me. I immediately responded, ‘Absolutely, that sounds amazing!’.”
She went on to praise Meghan’s kitchen skills, stating: “I consider myself a fair cook, but she definitely surpassed my expectations.”
“What stood out about her recipes was how accessible they were. She manages a garden from scratch, which I wouldn’t know how to do, along with chickens. I fear they would all perish under my care.”
When inquired about the Duke of Sussex, Kaling remarked: “Harry was present, but he didn’t prepare anything for me. However, I’ve heard he is quite a skilled cook. He really knows his way around a kitchen.”
Meghan made the announcement of her new show by returning to Instagram for the first time in four years, posting a black and white video of herself on a beach on New Year’s Day while drawing “2025” in the sand with her finger.
She followed up the next day by releasing the show’s trailer, expressing: “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did while creating it.”
The series consists of eight half-hour episodes, with additional guests such as chefs Roy Choi and Alice Waters.
Kaling attended the Golden Globes on Sunday evening where she presented an award alongside Kate Hudson, who stars in her upcoming Netflix series Running Point, centered around an LA basketball team.
Additionally, she serves as a producer on the Oscar-shortlisted short film Anuja, which tells the story of two young sisters working in a sweatshop in New Delhi.
With Love, Meghan will be available for streaming on Netflix starting January 15.
