More prospective jurors dismissed in Donald Trump’s hush money case | US News
On the second day of Donald Trump’s hush money case, more jurors have been dismissed, with Trump stating outside court that the trial “should never have been brought”.
As of now, no one has been selected for the panel of 12 jurors and six alternates in the ongoing trial that began on Monday.
Several jurors were excused on Tuesday morning for reasons such as impartiality and prior commitments, with many potential jurors yet to be questioned.
This trial is the first of Trump’s four criminal cases to proceed to trial and could potentially be the only one with a verdict before the upcoming November election, where voters will decide on the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s return to the White House.
Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in an alleged attempt to suppress scandalous and he claims fabricated stories about his personal life during the 2016 campaign.
Prior to entering the courtroom in the morning, Trump briefly addressed a TV camera in the hallway, reiterating his belief that the judge is biased against him and that the case is politically driven.
“This trial should never have been initiated,” Trump remarked.
