Multiple Dead After Mass Shooting at Teenager’s Birthday Party: Reports

Multiple people are dead following a mass shooting late Saturday at a teenager’s birthday party in Alabama, according to reports.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. local time when officers were called to the Mahogany Masterpiece dance studio in Dadeville, a small city about 44 miles northeast of Montgomery.

The Tallapoosa County Coroner’s Office confirmed multiple people have died, according to multiple local reports.

More than 20 people have been injured in the shooting, according to multiple local reports. However, the number of deaths has yet to be confirmed. Those injured were transported to the hospital for medical care, reported CBS affiliate WRBL.

According to the outlet, investigators said the shooting at the gathering was sparked by a suspected altercation. Law enforcement agencies that responded to the incident include the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, Dadeville Police, and Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office, reported WRBL.

At least six bodies could be seen on the ground, reported BNO news, citing a graphic photo shared by a witness.

Authorities have yet to release any details relating to possible suspects or their motives.

On the same night, in Louisville, Kentucky, two people died and four others were injured after shots were fired into hundreds of people gathered in a crowd at Chickasaw Park.

Over in Lincoln University, in Chester County, Pennsylvania, a double shooting on campus on the same night prompted the university to lock down. Two people were injured and were taken to an area hospital for treatment, while the suspect is still at large as of early Sunday.
