Mysterious monolith found in desert near Las Vegas puzzles experts | US News

A mysterious monolith has perplexed law enforcement in Las Vegas after being spotted shining in a remote mountain range near the glowing city.

The Las Vegas police mentioned that a volunteer search and rescue unit came across the reflective object near Gass Peak in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge in Nevada.

Authorities are clueless about the origin of the monolith and anticipate that social media users will attempt to unravel the mystery.

Sharing an image of the finding on the X social media platform, the Las Vegas police stated: “We encounter many odd occurrences during hiking trips like lack of weather preparedness, insufficient water… but take a look at this! Over the weekend, (LV Search and Rescue) spotted this enigmatic monolith near Gass Peak north of the valley.

“While the internet delves into this enigma, bear in mind: when enjoying our breathtaking outdoors, follow the TRAIL acronym.”

The sighting follows a series of instances of mysterious shiny columns appearing worldwide since at least 2020.

In November of that year, a roughly 12ft metal monolith resembling the one in Las Vegas was discovered deep in the Utah desert.

It was found in such a remote area that officials did not immediately disclose its location to prevent people from getting lost or stranded while trying to locate it.

It was followed by sightings in Romania, central California, and on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas.

In March of this year, a 10ft monolith appeared on a hillside in southeast Wales.
