Nancy Pelosi Hospitalized in Luxembourg Following Injury During Trip | US News

Nancy Pelosi, the former speaker of the US House of Representatives, has been hospitalized in Luxembourg following an injury during an “official engagement”.

The 84-year-old’s office reported that she is “currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals” after sustaining an injury, but specifics were not disclosed.

According to the AP news agency, Ms. Pelosi tripped and fell while accompanying a congressional delegation in Luxembourg to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, the last significant German offensive on the Western Front during World War II.

Her office stated that she would be unable to participate in the remaining events of her trip and “looks forward to returning home to the US soon,” adding that “she continues to work.”

Republican congressman Michael McCaul, who was also on the trip, shared on social media that he is “praying for a speedy recovery,” expressing confidence that she will be “back on her feet in no time.”

Earlier this week, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, 82, also experienced a fall in the Senate, resulting in a sprained wrist and facial cuts. He is set to step down from his leadership position at the end of the year.

She was re-elected in November and continues to serve in Congress.

Two years ago, Ms. Pelosi’s husband Paul was attacked by a man wielding a hammer at their home in San Francisco. The assailant was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison in October.
