Neil Cavuto Departing Fox News After 28-Year Tenure

Veteran Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto is preparing to exit the network after a remarkable 28-year career.

The 66-year-old broadcaster has been at the helm of “Your World” since Fox News launched in 1996.

“Neil Cavuto’s distinguished career has exemplified excellence in journalism, and we take immense pride in his outstanding 28-year tenure with FOX News Media,” the network stated in a release confirming his departure.

“His shows have defined business news and established benchmarks for the entire industry. We extend our heartfelt wishes for his future endeavors.”

Cavuto has hosted three programs across Fox News and its sister channel, Fox Business Network: the weekday shows “Your World” and “Cavuto: Coast to Coast,” along with the weekend broadcast “Cavuto Live.” Together, these programs constitute 12 hours of weekly content. As of now, Fox News has not named a successor for these shows.

In addition to his on-air role, Cavuto held the position of vice president at Fox Business Network.

The long-standing anchor has been candid about his health battles. He has faced multiple sclerosis, underwent open-heart surgery in 2016, and has survived cancer. In 2022, Cavuto took a five-week hiatus from anchoring due to a severe case of COVID-19, which required intensive care.

Cavuto previously moderated the second Republican presidential primary debate in 2015. Unlike many of his colleagues at Fox, he has not interviewed President-elect Donald Trump since his first term, and their relationship has grown increasingly strained over the years.

On his segments, Cavuto frequently questioned Trump’s assertions, such as the safety of hydroxychloroquine as a preventive measure against COVID-19 and the distribution of tariffs on Chinese goods.

His departure happens in the wake of several notable exits across major cable news networks.

Just this week, CNN’s senior political analyst Gloria Borger announced her plans to leave the company after 17 years. This news followed shortly after CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota signed off for the last time after a decade with the station.

In November, Chris Wallace and CNN officially parted ways after three years. Wallace previously hosted “Fox News Sunday” on Fox News for 18 years before announcing his departure for CNN to lead a program on the streaming service CNN+, which only lasted less than a month before it was terminated.
