‘No Middle Ground’ on Leftist Policies That Hurt Families

WASHINGTON, D.C.—A lot of leftist policies seem nonsensical and unrelated, but conservative activist Candace Owens says she has found the common thread among them. She also advocates an uncompromising stance when confronting these issues.

When conservatives consider the agenda items being pushed, “We look up and we go, ‘How? Why?’” Owens told the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on March 2.

“The truth is that their intentions are to go after the one thing that stands between them and absolute power, and that is the family unit,” she said, drawing a round of applause from the crowd at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.

Owens described how three leftist agenda items undermine the American family, a reality that became more apparent to her recently. During the past five years, she became a married mother of two children.

The first issue Owens cited is climate change. Humans are being blamed for causing environmental temperature changes that threaten our planet’s existence. In connection with that, children are being taught that it would be “irresponsible” for them to become parents, adding to the alleged burden on the climate, Owens said.

The second is Transgenderism, a trend that also hurts the family, she said. It encourages people to mutilate their bodies “so that they cannot reproduce,” Owens said. “What better way to annihilate families?”

The third is Feminism, which she said espouses a “hatred of men,” while also encouraging women to “be just like men” and to “climb the corporate ladder,” Owens said. Women are told they shouldn’t worry about their children because “the government will raise them,” Owens said.

Damage to Society

Parenting duties are therefore being shifted to “the Department of Education, which, by the way, should be abolished,” Owens said, drawing more applause.

This has larger negative effects on society, too, she said.

“You’re telling men that any demonstration of masculinity is wrong and backward, producing a society where they want men like dogs with their tails between their legs,” Owens said.

This is the goal of the left, she said, “because they know that there is no society that can survive without strong men, and there is no family that can survive without both strong men and strong women committed to their children.”

Non-Negotiable

As she wrapped up her 17-minute speech, Owens told the crowd that certain issues in the battle between the right and left should be non-negotiable.

“If you are somebody who believes that we need to meet and sit down and break bread with the left on these various topics, to figure out how we can come together, we don’t need you,” Owens declared. “We need fighters.”

The audience clapped upon hearing that.

Owens said that there can be no compromise on issues of morality, particularly with regard to children.

“There is no middle ground on transgenderism. There is no middle ground on child grooming. There is no middle ground on coming up with fluffy terms for pedophilia. There is no middle ground,” she said. “And if you are offended because some of us have the courage to say what needs to be said, we simply don’t need you. We don’t need you.”

She drew cheers by ending her speech on a strong note: “I will never stop fighting, myself, especially when it comes to family.”

Other Strong Conservative Voices

As the conference heads into its second full day on March 3, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is among the headliners. He had originally been scheduled to speak on March 2.

Also on the agenda are the two candidates who have announced they will challenge former President Donald Trump as they seek the Republican nomination for president: former U.S.  ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. Trump is scheduled to speak on March 4.

Other March 3 speakers include Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), and James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee; Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr.; people who were prosecuted for protesting election integrity at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021; and Chloe Cole, a California teen who became nationally known for disavowing gender-transition procedures she underwent.
